Sense Of Place: Pennsylvania - Week 3: Industrial Age

For ages 7-10
Celebrate your very own corner of Pennsylvania with this series of three very special workshops. These fun workshops will combine art, music and historical artifacts. Experience something different each week while looking at and creating art and music each step of the way. Come along for all three workshops to discover the history of Pennsylvania or sign-up for one or two if you can't make it to all of them.
Week 3: Industrial Age
In this final week, you'll learn how the steel industry… Show more made big changes to Pennsylvania as you hear songs that illustrate the work of the steel mills. You'll investigate the symbols and images that artists used in their paintings and examine historical photographs and maps for the clues to change. Finally, you'll create a song, using kazoos, to tell the story of western Pennsylvania's industry, then, now and in the future.
