Instrumental hip hop pioneer Joshua Davis, professionally known as DJ Shadow, was born in 1972 and hails originally from San Jose, CA. His debut album Endtroducing was met with glowing acclaim and was unique in that it was composed almost entirely of electronic samples. Subsequent works have been met with similar enthusiasm, and has also composed for video games from Activision.
